The Kenya Industrialization Conference (KIC) 2023, organized by the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, in collaboration with its stage agencies, partners, and private sector, took place with great success. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Accelerating AfCFTA Implementation through Value Chain Integration for Shared Prosperity’. The event featured panel discussions on key topics and an exhibition where companies showcased their manufacturing successes.
The conference was inaugurated on 20th November 2023 by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Rebecca Miano. NMC proudly participated in the exhibition as a sponsor, demonstrating its commitment to local manufacturing. At the NMC booth, various products were showcased, including the Tiba bed, Tofas brick making machines, lathe machines, and industrial parts.
In line with the theme of industrialization, NMC also highlighted a significant achievement in Kenya’s manufacturing history – the first locally manufactured vehicle in the late eighties and early nineties called ‘Nyayo Pioneer’. This served to raise awareness about Kenya’s capabilities in local manufacturing.
Mr. George Makateto, the Managing Director of NMC, played an active role as a session chair and panelist in various discussions on topics such as automotive, steel, cement, and sugar. These discussions provided valuable insights into the local market and opportunities for NMC’s products.
During the exhibition, NMC had the privilege of hosting esteemed dignitaries at its stand. On 20th November 2023, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Rebecca Miano, and H.E. Anne Waiguru, Governor of Kirinyaga County, visited the booth. They engaged in fruitful discussions on potential collaborations between the county and NMC.
On 21st November 2023, Dr. Paul Utuoma, the Governor of Busia County, and Dr. Juma Mukhwana, the Principal Secretary, also visited the NMC stand. They were particularly impressed with the Tiba Bed and Tofas brick making machine, expressing their willingness to collaborate with NMC for the benefit of their county.
The Kenya Industrialization Conference 2023 provided a platform for NMC to showcase its products, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore collaboration opportunities. NMC remains committed to contributing to Kenya’s industrial growth and looks forward to future endeavors in advancing local manufacturing.
